Hustle, grind, crush it, the early bird gets the worm and all that jazz. By all means work hard, smart, and with passion. BUT life is more than crushing it day in and day out! Here is what I know for sure. It’s not always about slaying the dragon… it’s not about working endless days with no days off.
In our culture of doing more, more and more we can lose sight of who we are and what brings us joy. We forget to celebrate the milestones. Why? Because we live in a state of never enough. It’s always about the next thing in life and business. Worse, we can lose sight of our why – of our reason for existence.
Success in business alone is a hollow victory when we trade our soul and joy for it. Oh don’t get me wrong I work hard, very hard, but I also play hard. I pay close attention to ensuring that I am practicing the trifecta of success principles I stand on and share. “Walk your Talk.” I am committed to a daily practice – EVERY SINGLE DAY!
You cannot have TRUE and LASTING success in LOVE, and BUSINESS without success in LIFE!
Success in LIFE is the cornerstone of everything. It truly is all about you! You are the one constant in all you do, interact with, and desire. You weren’t born to add to the chaos. You were born to bring your voice and your purpose to all who meet and know you.
Therefore, discerning your passion and living the life you want begins with self-acceptance, love, respect and a clear understanding the value you bring to the world.
So make time to play, laugh till your belly hurts and your eyes leak, be goofy, sing and dance, be your inner rock star self, read, daydream and connect with things that bring you joy. NOT business related.
Success in LOVE – aka relationships personal or professional require clear boundaries and communications skills. Don’t you find yourself, at times, wishing everyone thought like you? Wouldn’t it be so much easier to communicate? But how boring would the world be if we all thought the same? Being successful in LOVE is a natural by product of success in LIFE.
I am an all-in kind of person. My goal is to add to both our days whenever we interact – to elevate and engage with others in such a way that I help to make someone’s day better in any way I can.
Success in all areas of life, love and business is in the relationships you build, nurture and cultivate. Sometimes it begins with one authentic conversation a day in your personal life, and one in your professional life. This has been my daily practice since 1990.
Success in BUSINESS is measurable and trackable and since everyone’s version of success in business is different, only you will be able to know if you reached it. Some use money markers. For others, it’s impact, and so on. How ever you define success in business, what remains clear is if the only place you see success is in your business, it’s time to STOP and take stock.
Until we are clear and committed to ensuring a healthy practice of balance in life, love, and business, we will cycle through highs and lows.
So by all means hustle, grind, and crush it if that resonates with you, but remember to make time to play, laugh and celebrate. Define success on your own terms every day in every way. Know that a little play in every day of work will make you shine!
