When you know, I mean really know deep in your bones, it shows in all you do. It becomes easier, natural and repeatable. This statement is applicable each time we learn something new. Once we know something it becomes less about the mechanics, and more about the results.
You have likely met individuals who seem to be able to sell and enroll others into anything they are doing. At times their energy is contagious, and invites you into the world of endless possibility.
These same people seem to be able to sell anything including “air in a can”. It’s as though they were genetically engineered to do so. But this is not so – not at all.
Sales to many may seem foreign, scary and even distasteful, but I see sales as service.
#Service is one of my core values; it sits at the top of my list.
I believe deep in my bones that every person is entitled to live the life they dream and celebrate success in their life, relationships, and business or career. I call this the perfect “Trifecta of Success”. I believe that those who are content in all three areas become change agents in the world, creating a ripple effect for all who know and interact with them. These same people give back in a big way to their communities, and society as a whole. In doing so they create further change.
Being able to sell is not about being slick or a fast talker. For me sales is about service. It’s about educating, collaborating, and connecting. It’s about being real and building relationships that are win/win! It’s not enough to bring the sizzle; the shiny and sparkly opportunity. No, it’s about the outcome of change. Without the transformation things fall flat. They fizzle out, and who wants that?
#TRUTH: If you are having difficulty enrolling people or selling consider this. Could you be out of alignment? If you are marketing and selling your products and not seeing results, your words may not be matching your actions. OUCH, I know this may hurt… the truth always does.
Recently I was on a group call in which a woman asked a question about how she could get coached for free, because she had no money to pay for the program that was being offered. She was hoping the coach would consider gifting it to her. The reason for her current situation was, as she put it, “poor sales results”. It had been six months since her last sale into her financial investment program. Sadly, she did not see the irony of this.
When asked why she became a Financial Advisor she said it was because she was tired of not having money, and that keeping money was hard. #Scarcity
In reality, what she wanted to do, and what she was doing didn’t match. What she wanted was to travel and host yoga retreats – not sell financial planning. She saw little need for the product she offered. It was a means to an end, and it showed in her results. When she spoke of her financial business, she sounded flat. Her voice and tone were monotone. Yet when she talked about her passion, she came from a place of engagement, invitation, and curiosity!
After twenty minutes the penny dropped, and she embraced why she had been struggling. Hallelujah.
