Being a best kept secret in business is counter-productive to success, and lacks the results we desire. When starting a business the objective is to serve those who want and need your product or service. Ideally a business owner will become the gold standard, the expert, the ‘go to’ organization. Therefore, it behooves the company to strive for quality service, and clear communication to achieve business success.
We must also consider the resulting impact and consequence of not moving from best kept secret. How many more can you serve if they know about you?
Far too many companies struggle to become a known standard. The costs associated with marketing can be astronomical, so therefore ROI must be considered.
As a small business owner myself, I have found that networking in person with like-minded people is the single best way to grow my business and overall market share.
I attend a wide variety of events with the intention of learning from the presenters and others in the room, as well as connecting with like-minded people and assisting others achieve their goals. It seems that the more I give and the more present I am in those connections, the more me and my company grow. It’s win/win!
In 2005 I was new to Calgary, so I began to grow my network (also known to many as networth). I discovered a void in the marketplace for live events that offered both personal and professional development for entrepreneurs.
I knew there was a void, but I wasn’t sure how to fill it so I began researching what was needed and in 2006 I became a licensee of a large networking company based out of the US that provided business events. The company was sound yet the void still existed.
It wasn’t until 2007 that I held the first personal and professional development event. From that day on I embraced what I knew was my responsibly to deliver.
In 2012, I knew it was my time to do something different. And by different I mean launch my memoir to the world. So I founded my company (Frock Off Inc.). Initially I was focused on completing and launching my memoir (which I did in 2013), but it wasn’t long before people were asking me when I would host more live events again. The void I had once filled in the marketplace was open again, and I had become known for delivering. Only months after launching and releasing my book, we held it the first live event. Once again filling the void in the marketplace for events that cater to both personal and professional development for entrepreneurs.
The purpose is clear: access, community, collaboration, accountability and knowledge. The end result is SUCCESS.
- Those who implemented the newly found knowledge gained confidence and clarity which resulted in growth.
- Those who stayed connected and engaged with like minded people were able to source ideas and much more.
Today we offer even more events in different cities across Canada.
